Dr. Rosario Sanchez-Gonzalez is an Assistant Professor of Neurobiology at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) in Germany. She earned her B.S in Biology and her Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Salamanca (Spain). During her thesis, Dr. Sanchez-Gonzalez worked in the Arevalo’s Lab studying stem cells in the adult zebrafish retina. She worked in the laboratory of Dr. Ninkovic (Helmholtz Zentrum München) as a postdoc studying brain regeneration in adult zebrafish. During this work, Dr. Sanchez-Gonzalez became fascinated by how glial reactivity regulates the regenerative potential of a given species. Her lab is using amphibians (Xenopus laevis and Axolotl) as animal models to investigate the impact of glial plasticity on tissue restoration and functional recovery.
